Faith in Action: Presentation of the New CADIS International Book in Bucchianico Between Testimonies and Hope

Bucchianico (CH) – An intense day of sharing, reflection, and faith was experienced on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the Sanctuary of San Camillo de Lellis in Bucchianico. On a doubly significant occasion—the closing of the Season of Creation and the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of ecology—CADIS International gathered the community to officially present its new book: “Faith in Action: A Decade of Compassion and Resilience with CADIS”.

The gathering was a precious opportunity to celebrate 10 years of humanitarian work and disaster response around the world. Born in 2015 from the legacy of the Camillian Task Force and the Camillian spirit that has been caring for the most vulnerable for over 400 years, the Camillian Disaster Service International Foundation currently operates in more than 20 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and Europe.

A Story of Continuous Presence and Dignity

During the presentation, the core of CADIS's approach was highlighted, summed up in the principle of continuous presence: what happens when the media spotlight turns off after a major disaster? It is precisely in that moment of silence that the Foundation's deepest commitment begins.

CADIS’s action unfolds across four key phases:
 

• Emergency Response: Medical assistance, food, shelter, and psychological support in the first hours following a disaster.
• Rehabilitation: Rebuilding homes, schools, and health centers alongside the affected communities.
• Resilience and Long-Term Development: Training local people, strengthening local leadership, and creating development projects so that every community can stand on its own.
• Rights Advocacy: building impact and lasting transformation in the lives of these families and vulnerable communities, fostering their awareness of fundamental rights and duties to protect individuals, the community, and our “common home”.

The book “Faith in Action” documents this journey through real-life testimonies, field insights, and reflections on Christian compassion. The text shows how faith can translate into concrete resilience, community support, and environmental stewardship.
 

Participation, Sharing, and the Holy Mass

The event saw the participation of about 30 people, who showed a strong and sincere interest in CADIS's mission. The intimate and engaging atmosphere fostered a touching moment of dialogue at the end of the presentation, where attendees shared reflections and personal life experiences, further enriching the gathering.

Following the presentation, the community gathered for the celebration of the Holy Mass presided over by Fr. Aris Miranda, Director of the CADIS Foundation. During the homily and service, the focus centered on Saint Francis of Assisi and his message of universal fraternity and care for our common home—values that daily guide the work of Camillians and CADIS volunteers worldwide.
