Getting ready for the 9th CADIS Leadership Conference in Bangkok

From 3 to 9 November 2024 CADIS leaders will gather in Bangkok for the annual conference

Once again this year, CADIS leaders will gather in Bangkok, Thailand, for their annual conference.

From November 3rd, about 30 CADIS representatives from around the world will meet in the Camillian Pastoral Care Centre in Bangkok for the ninth CADIS Leadership Conference.

This year's theme is “Reaffirming our Commitment and Harnessing our Interventions in Building an eCon-Resilient Vulnerable Communities”.

The following topics will be dealt with during this conference: 1] Community-Based Disaster Management in Health Emergencies, 2] Community-Based Disaster Mental Health Intervention, 3] Psychosocial and Spiritual-Pastoral Approach to Disaster Management, and 4] Mobilizing Resources for Humanitarian and Development Interventions.

The 7th Bangkok Conference of 2022 (BKK7) produced the CADIS Strategic Plan 2023-2028, which will guide all our efforts, investments, and sacrifices in building a fully econ-resilient disaster-prone vulnerable community. Moreover, BKK8 2023 has drawn an implementation plan for its priorities, namely, resource mobilization and volunteer development programs.

As announced by Fr. Aris Miranda, the CADIS Director, in the invitation letter, “[...] we are racing against the huge impact of climate change in our common home at present. Nonetheless, we are proud to inform you that we are contributing positively to the global effort to reduce and mitigate its impact, particularly on the most vulnerable communities. In the past years, thousands of individuals who suffered the serious impact of natural and non-natural disasters were assisted. As we commit to journeying with the most vulnerable, we will gather again in Bangkok to learn, study, plan, and organize our strategies for journeying, facilitating, and assisting the disaster-prone and affected communities.”

Five days of training, work and study of new strategies to continue working in the world of vulnerable communities and seek, together with the community, solutions for the resilience of areas most affected by natural and other disasters.

The preparation for the ninth CADIS Conference started months ago with a series of online workshops held by Dr. Usha Menon, specialised in non-profit leadership strategy. A three-part course to study and explore the world of fundraising will culminate in in Bangkok with the presentations of the resource mobilization programs of each country in person.

The other speakers who will be present to give training lectures are Dr Pretesh Kiran for the day dedicated to Building Resilience to Health Emergencies: A Community-Based Approach; Dr Lisa Anna Gayoles with the topic on Community-Based Disaster Mental Health Intervention and Dr Consuelo Santamaria for the Psychosocial and Spiritual-Pastoral Approach to Disaster Management.
