Camillian Task Force (CTF) India intervention in Moreh, Manipur

CTF India comes to the aid of the people of Manipur, a place of ethnic clashes on the border with Myanmar.

May 4th 2024

Moreh is a town in the Tengnoupal district of Manipur, India, situated on the border with Myanmar. It's a bustling commercial hub due to its strategic location for cross-border trade. However, like many border towns, it has experienced communal tensions and occasional riots, often stemming from ethnic and political differences. These conflicts have resulted in suffering for the residents, disrupting daily life and causing economic hardships. Efforts to address these issues typically involve community dialogues, increased security measures, and initiatives aimed at fostering harmony among different groups.

In the midst of the tensions between the Maiteis and Kukis in Moreh, the Camillian Task Force in collaboration with Inphal Diocese, MC Sisters and CHAI KA is launching a crucial intervention with the start of its medical relief program today. This initiative aims to provide much-needed medical assistance to the affected communities, offering relief to those suffering from injuries, trauma, and health issues resulting from the recent clashes. The program signifies a vital step towards not only addressing immediate medical needs but also fostering goodwill and cooperation among the different groups in the town. It underscores the importance of humanitarian efforts in times of conflict and serves as a beacon of hope for peace and reconciliation in Moreh.

Crossing different checkpoints and navigating hills can add some adventure to the journey

Before setting out on our journey, we received thorough directions and guidance, and now we're bringing along a pickup stocked with medicines and relief materials
