The seventh CADIS leadership conference opened on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the Camillian Pastoral Center in Bangkok, Thailand.
The conference expects 30 participants from Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, India, Pakistan, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Italy, and Australia who will prepare the new strategic plan for the next six years. Many topics will animate the sessions: reports on completed and ongoing CADIS activities, formulation of new strategic plans, in-depth sessions on the Laudato Si' Action Platform.
The opening session took place after the celebration of Holy Mass at the pastoral center chapel with a shared moment of reflection. Afterwards, in the conference room, the participants received the greeting and blessing of the Superior General of the Order of the Ministers of the Infirm (Camillians) Fr. Pedro Tramontin, who from Rome followed vurtually the entire initial session showing extreme closeness.
"We are called to continue the work begun by St. Camillus, who started a new school of charity, but we must also encourage and be at the side of the most vulnerable. So here we are also called to find new ways to help them, as we are called to serve them. This is our mission!”
“Now I am much more aware of the importance of the Camillian charism and how each mission has a specific way to serve our mission."
Fr. Pedro Tramontin then went on to review the efforts carried out especially in these last difficult years, which, however, have not stopped the care and dedication for the most affected communities. "We come from a long tradition that sometimes involved some difficulties, but now we are definitely stronger. To love the poor is to love Jesus, to care for the poor is to care for Jesus. CADIS is an expression of this charism: we have many communities, we can count on many friends, we have the charity of which CADIS is an expression."
The Superior General then concluded his greeting recalling the moment of his election during the Chapter - "When I began my term as Superior General of the Order, I shared this ancient reflection: 'if you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go further go together.' This is my wish for CADIS."
